You are the last of your kind on an abandoned planet. The ocean level is rising every night and you must build a structure to stay dry.

Gameplay

Mudflat is a physics based  simulation game where you stack and weld objects in order to avoid the ever increasing tide. During the day while the tide is low you can pick up and weld objects into a structure. At night when the tide rises, you can use this tower to stay dry. The tide marker shows you how high the tide will be each night so that you can plan accordingly.

Installation

Just unzip and run Mudflat.exe

Controls

* Look: Mouse/Right stick
* Move: WASD/Left stick
* Jump: Space/A button
* Inspect: Left Click/Right Trigger
* Pick up and move/drag focused object: Hold left click/right trigger
* Weld held/focused object to all objects it touches: Right click/Left trigger
* Delete all welds on held/focused object: Right click/Left Trigger

Tips

* You must survive for 10 days total (there is no saving of your game)
* Use the water meter to make sure your structure is high enough for the next night
* Welding objects together increases the stability of your structures and allows you to move multiple objects as a unit.
* Heavier objects don't move as easily but you can still drag them around
* Pay attention to the time of day (sky color) so that you know when to get to higher ground

the art is epic but i like some graphic interface and settings would be a improvement

Finally! A game that combines my two favorite things: Stacking things aimlessly and absolute chaos of objects to interact with!!!

Hahaha! Thanks!

(1 edit)

Great concept but the controls and standing on top of things needs adjusting!!!! takes a lot of practice to get one item on top of the next, spent a whole day trying to get one small box on top of a larger one! took a few games to get the hang of it. The biggest problem is trying to stay on the items even when I had a big board I was standing on that was flat my character would move in small increments and if I touched him I would somehow fall off and drown! If the item control were tweeked and the standing problem fixed it would be a good game but right now ehhhhh can be is just plain frustrating in the beginning but fun to play even with that! Just that small control thing and you got a great game! good job!

Hey thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! The game is only two weeks old so yea there are a bunch of little control tweaks that it needs. I'll take your advice into consideration during the next update and will see if I can get it to be a better experience for you.

Thanks again for playing!!

very interesting concept ive not yet played it but if it interests me enough ill play it on my channel to help with your exposure

Hey that's great! I appreciate it and hope you do decide to play it. It's just a small little challenging experience but even I love playing it and I made it!

ive played it. ill feature it in my channel this week and will post the vid here if you want. ive only got a 300 sub count but hopefully at least a few of my subs check it out!!

fun game. as with all physics games its a little glitchy ill tell u some issues i ran into. over all i like the simple concept and i am a fan of games like this

move speed too slow for mouse controls: because i dont know how well it plays with a game pad i cant say weather the move speed is different between the two how ever in my short play through  i found it easy to jump around rather than walk. the mouse sensitifty could use some work as well.

grabbing an item dosent always work: with the days being quite short its important to be able to grab an item and not have it drop from ur hands a hundred times. i found it hard to find the hit boxes. as another note i feel that the days are far too short. working with physics can be hard theres just not enough time to stack things together they flip about and move far too much. might i sujest that when u pick up an item it locks in place then u can rotate it with the arrow keys and or the D pad.

slight bug: i was moving a solar panel above my head and i dropped it on my head.  it stuck me to the ground and i was unable to move until i could maneuver the solar panel off my head. right after i was free from the panel hell bent on holding me to the ground and drowning me i thought i was victorious come to find out having a solar panel on ur head sometimes disables the jump ability when i realized i was unable  to jump i just walked into the see pirates of the Caribbean style

all in all even with the little annoyances here and there its a good game. runs smooth had no lag at all. i hope u continue working on this project. and if u have any others i will check them out. keep up the good work.

Hey thank you so much for the feedback! Please do post a video here.

I know exactly what you mean with the grabbing - there is actually a delay which is probably a bit too long before it registers that you want to grab an object. This was to simplify the controls so you can use left click for inspect and also grab. We wait a certain amount of time before grabbing to see if you release (for inspect). Anyways - I will shorten that a bit and see if that improves it for people.

I wanted to keep the settings simple, but I think I will add a move speed/mouse sensitivity option in the menu for people.

Regarding day length, I didn't really know what would be ideal for people, but I will try adding another 45 seconds to it and see how well it goes.

Keep an eye on my dev log as there should be an update with these changes later today or tomorrow.

the game is great! it is an innovative concept. This game needs A LOT of updates though. if you stand on an object and grab it, you can ride it. the game is a bit laggy, but that might just be on my side. Overall, this is a great game, but needs to be polished.

Hey thanks! Yea - I started it last week so it's still got a lot of little things that need addressed. There's a lot of physics going on of course so you might see some lag on less beefy rigs but I'll see if I can adjust any of that to make it less demanding.

Thanks for playing!
